I guess everybody heard of Becca Cosmetics and that hands down they make the most buttery intense and sparkly highlighters, but, nobody probably told you they might make you sick! Today I highlight Becca Cosmetics in Opal $38
Some of the ingredients might surprise you:
Talc, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isostearyl Alcohol, Petrolatum, Silica, Boron Nitride, Nylon-12, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Cera Microcristallina/ Microcrystalline Wax/Cire microcrystalline, Dimethicone, Acrylates Copolymer, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Tin Oxide, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Paraffin, Magnesium Stearate, Polyethylene, Tetrasodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate, Chlorphenesin, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).
TALC,also known as hydrous magnesium silicate, is a toxic ingredient similar to asbestos. Is commonly found in eye shadow, baby powder, face powder, and other loose-mineral cosmetics, where it’s used as an absorbent, anti-caking agent. Asbestos-containing talc particles have been known to cause tumors in human ovaries and lungs, according to the American Cancer Society. Although asbestos-free talc has been widely used since the ’70s, evidence about its safety remains fuzzy.
PETROLATUM is found in many hair care products, lip balms, soaps and skin care products. It’s also known as mineral oil jelly, and it’s used as a barrier to lock moisture in the skin and to make hair shine.
But this petrochemical can be contaminated with cancer-causing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The European Union considers it a carcinogen and restricts its use in cosmetics.
DIMETHICONE it’s a silicon oil, man-made in the laboratory and used in personal care products as an anti-foaming agent, skin protectant, and skin and hair conditioner.Often used in makeup primers,it fills fine lines and smooths out skin but it also creates a barrier for the skin to breathe.Dimethicone is also a non-biodegradable chemical and that’s bad for the environment.
PHTHALATES are a group of endocrine-disrupting chemicals used in personal-care products for more staying power. It’s also used as a plastic softener for children’s toys and medical devices. Exposure to this chemical can lead to damaged kidneys and lungs, early breast development (which, in turn, is associated with increased risk for breast cancer), as well as reproductive problems, according to studies too innumerable to list.
So today I want to share with you my found DUPE for it,
