Mint comes from the Mentha plant family that includes spearmint, peppermint, orange mint, apple mint, pineapple mint and more, including chocolate mint! Peppermint’s flavor is similar to spearmint, but it contains the ingredient menthol, making its flavor stronger and more pronounced.
Mint tea soothes the stomach in case of indigestion or inflammation. When your stomach feels sick, drinking a cup of minttea can give you relief.
While mint oil is a good antiseptic and antipruritic material, the mint juice is an excellent skin cleanser. It soothes the skin and helps to cure infections and itchiness. In addition to being a good way to reduce pimples, it can even relieve some of the symptoms of acne. Its anti-pruritic properties can be used for treating insect bites like those of mosquitoes, honeybees, hornets, wasps, and gnats. The cooling sensation will relieve you from irritation and the constant urge to scratch, and the anti-inflammatory nature of mint will bring down swelling. In that same vein, mint oil is often a basic component of bug repellent products like citronella candles, because the strong aroma is unappealing to most insects.
Now lets check out some of my sustainable product I use containing the cooling mint and are also environmentally friendly:

TONERS
What an amazing combination of ingredients in this toner, from which hazel to aloe vera and rose water, with orange/mandarin to shrink pores, balance the skin and hydrate. This toner is also recommended for sunburn and because is minty, is also very refreshing. Perfect toner for the summer, in a gloss bottle with a fine mist pump.
ROOT PRETTY Peppermint + WillowBark clarifying toner $10-$46
It deeply cleans, exfoliates & tones skin while tightening pores. The natural salicylic acid of white willow bark extract works to gently treat acne. It does have a plant-y smell, is very gentle but slightly tightening and drying. The toner helps me clear my skin after using all the SPF balms that usually clog ores and give me some acne around my jaw.

Generous in size, and long-lasting, this bar is perfect to help me remove mineral sunscreen after sun soaking, since I’ve noticed it needs a little scrub to remove it since is a little more stubborn than most chemical sunscreens.

This whipped body butter has many organic ingredients and a very uplifting peppermint scent. Even though it a mix of shea & cacao butter with Macademia and coconut oil, is not greasy at all but is highly nourishing and hydrating for the skin.
LIP CONDITIONERS (balm, tinted lip & cheek balm)
ROOT PRETTYPeppermint Wonderlip Repair + Condition Lip Balm $18
Definitely pricy for a lip balm, but this first of all is a jumbo size. Peppermint and even though is packed in a card board tube (which I love ) it has very luxurious ingredients: Organic Hemp Oil, Candelilla Wax, Bulgarian Rose Wax, Organic Mango Butter, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Prickly Pear Oil, Plum Oil, Watermelon Seed Oil, Organic Peppermint Essential Oil & Vitamin E Oil
A lot of ORGANIC ingredients and high end butters and oils, it makes the perfect balm to have for everything, dry chapped lips, for protection in the harsh seasons or before bedtime, to keep your lips well hydrated and plump.
BIRCH BABE lip balm and lip & cheek tint and balm $20
Birch Babe recently they revamped their lip line and now is in a 100% recyclable kraft paper tube, mint free! They still have it in clear or 7 different shades to choose from, and I will be very excited to try them in the future.
AROMATHERAPHY
100p%PURE Aromatheraphy Oil stress relief $16
On rainy days or when I have a headache, I reach for this effective oil that is so relaxing but also helps with focus. It can be applied to temples, inner wrists, soles of feet, or behind the ears.
I even made a very simple and effective cooling mint spray myself for the feet and whole body if needed, just by mixing with some water few drops of mint, peppermint or spearmint essential oils in a spray bottle. First time I’ve did this I’ve made it so strong that after spraying my feet I’ve felt so cold that I’ve learned to play it safer in the future and apply it as”less is more”. You can always add more as needed, depending on your needs or prefference.
Do you have another favorite you would like to share?
Enjoying the rest of the summer, cool and refreshed!
