Weekend getaway

Past weekend we decided,same as last year,to go camping! I’m a very outdoorsy kind of girl,very low maintenance,even that sometimes,my outside shell might portrait different.

I packed few essentials…

…and I made sure to include a bug spray,because mosquitos are not my best friends.

Last year we also went camping the same weekend,because I wanted really bad to attend ,my first Hot Air Ballon Show held at Galena(see the post here)

We love to camp every year at the same place,Le-Aqua-Na State Park,715-acre state park with a 40-acre lake.

You can do fishing in the lake,or just enjoy the swimming beach,very clean,and has a net to divide the tickling fishes 😉

Be prepared to see many wild animals as: chipmunks,racoons,,deers,eagles,woodpeckers,and more.

We also love the beautiful trails thru the woods,and eat wild blackberries.You don’t have to worry so much for mosquitos,because they have families of bats,that help with that.

So on Saturday,we headed for Galena,for the Hot Air Baloon Race(a fundraiser for kids with diabetes),but unfortunately the weather didn’t wanted to play nice,so unfortunately there were no balloons this year,but still,I was happy to go there,just to support kids with diabetes.

On Sunday,we packed our bags and headed back to Galena,just because we love their awesome concord wine,and we stopped on Elisabeth,a small town,to pick fresh strawberries.It took less than 1 hour to get our bellies full,and few bushels,of course.

After,we went to Galena,and we discovered a new coffee shop,that uses organic coffee beans,Devour Cafe.The small coffee shop has a very cool ambiance,and the owner is also an artist,so you will also find some art displays to shop,from organic coffees,to teas,to handmade mugs. To eat we stopped,again this year,at Paradise Bar & Grill,a very laid back family restaurant bar/restaurant atmosphere,plus they have a very tasty coconut shrimp and mushroom swiss burger.

I always loved Galena,it has a really cool flair to it,and this year I also noticed they also recycle on their streets,that made me extra happy,and willing to return in the future.

That was our little weekend getaway,and even that we couldn’t enjoy hot air balloons this time,we still made the best out of it.Untill next time.
